According to the Guttmatcher Institute, approximately 6.6 million pregnancies occur annually in the United States. Pregnancy is a beautiful thing, and it comes along with some of the greatest rewards an individual will ever experience, but it can also be stressful and emotionally exhausting. If you are pregnant and facing challenges, pregnancy counseling may be a great option for you. Read on to discover just some of what pregnancy counseling may be able to offer you.
The Ability to Make an Informed Choice
The Guttmatcher Institute goes on to state that 51% of pregnancies that occur annually in the United States are unintended. Finding out that you are now dealing with an unplanned pregnancy can be one of the most frightening and emotionally exhausting times in your life. It is essential to remember that you have options. A pregnancy counseling professional will be able to go over your options with you in great depth, making you aware of both the advantages and challenges of each choice.
Giving Your Confidence In Your Decision
Once you have made a decision about how you will handle your pregnancy, you may find that your family and friends have very specific opinions regarding what you should or should not do. When these opinions turn into unrelenting pressure, trouble may arise, and you may feel forced to make a decision that you are not comfortable with. Your pregnancy counselor will be able to help you prepare to tell your family and friends about your decision, and he or she will also be able to give you strategies to stay strong in your choice, regardless of the pressure you may feel from others.
It is crucial that you keep yourself and your baby healthy during a pregnancy, as well as to prepare for financially providing for yourself and your baby. A pregnancy counselor will be able to provide you with referrals and recommendations for doctors, food assistance programs, jobs, higher education opportunities, etc.
When facing an unintended pregnancy, you may feel anxiety wondering how you will financially provide your baby with the items he or she will need. Many pregnancy counseling centers will help provide you with diapers, formula, bottles, infant and maternity clothing, etc.
The above are just some of the ways a pregnancy counselor can help you during what may be a difficult time. If you have questions or concerns in other areas, bring them up with your pregnancy counselor so that you can breathe a sigh or relief and spend more time enjoying your pregnancy.Share

Hi! My name is Claire Lewis. My husband and I have three beautiful children, two of which are adopted. We always talked about having four kids; adoption became the avenue through which we were able to make it happen. Actually, almost happen because we've decided to stop at three. We signed up with the adoption agency, completed all forms and evaluations, and waited a year and a half for our daughter. During that time, we received a few notices about emergency placement needs. These were babies that came from situations that would likely make them special needs children. We turned those down the first time, but when it came to adopting the second time we didn't. Our youngest son is a special needs child whom we love and adore. I hope you’ll find some value in learning about different relationships.
